What the Tefal Dolci frappe programme makes

The Tefal Dolci frappe programme is one of the four drink buttons, alongside SLUSHY, COCKTAIL and MILKSHAKE. It's the same FRAPPE button on the Moulinex Dolci, since it's the same machine.

Instead of a scoop, you get a dense, icy, creamy drink that you drink through a straw. Drink programmes run between 2 min 21 s and 3 min 12 s, so it's ready in no time once the bowl is frozen.

Which bases work for a frappe

A frappe starts from a frozen base, like everything on the Dolci. The classic ones are:

• Coffee and milk: the iced coffee frappe, ideal on a summer morning.
• Milk and fruit: fresh, fruity and creamy.

You freeze the base in the Tritan bowl for 24 hours at −18 °C. Then the blade spins and shaves the frozen block into a drink.

Getting the frappe texture you like

The FRAPPE result is thick on purpose. If you prefer it lighter, add a splash of milk before the cycle or stir it in afterwards. If it's too icy or clumpy, run RE-SPIN (about 1 min 30 s) to smooth it out.

Like every frozen dessert, the balance of the base matters: sugar and fat change how hard the block freezes and how smooth the drink comes out.

Tips for a better Tefal Dolci frappe

• Freeze it fully: 24 hours at −18 °C, even for a drink. A soft base gives a watery frappe.
• Keep milk to hand: a splash before or after the cycle is the easiest way to adjust the thickness.
• Use a wide straw: a good frappe is thick, so a thin straw will struggle.
• Serve it straight away: it's at its best right after the cycle, cold and creamy.

Step by step

1. Prepare a frappe base, for example coffee and milk, or milk and fruit.
2. Pour it into the Tritan bowl, put the lid on and freeze for 24 hours at −18 °C.
3. Fit the frozen bowl in the Tefal Dolci and lock it.
4. Press FRAPPE and let the cycle run.
5. Add a splash of milk before or after if you want it thinner.
6. If it's clumpy, press RE-SPIN.
7. Pour into a glass and drink through a straw.
